Quick Answer

Switching from Frazer to FoxDMS takes less than one afternoon. Export your active inventory list from Frazer (VIN, purchase date, price). Create your FoxDMS account, enter your floor plan settings, and add your vehicles. FoxDMS will automatically backfill floor plan interest from the purchase date of each vehicle. You do not need to cancel Frazer first — run both side by side during the 14-day trial. Most dealers close their Frazer account within 2–3 weeks of starting FoxDMS.

Honest Assessment

Before You Switch: What Frazer Does That FoxDMS Does Not

FoxDMS is not a complete Frazer replacement for every dealer. Here is an honest look at what you will gain and what you will give up.

What FoxDMS adds that Frazer lacks

  • Automatic floor plan $/day per vehicle (Frazer has none)
  • True all-in cost including all expenses + accrued interest
  • Native dealer-to-dealer deal workflow
  • 100% cloud — no desktop install, works on any device
  • $39/month vs $119/month — $80/month savings
  • Built exclusively for wholesale — no retail screens to navigate around

What Frazer has that FoxDMS does not include

  • 70,000+ state DMV forms library — if you print a lot of state forms, Frazer is better for this
  • BHPH (Buy Here Pay Here) payment management — FoxDMS does not support BHPH
  • F&I menus and retail deal desking — FoxDMS has no retail deal tools
  • Offline/desktop access — FoxDMS requires internet connection
  • Larger installed user base — more community resources and forums

Bottom line: If you run a pure wholesale operation and do not use BHPH, F&I tools, or the state forms library, FoxDMS replaces everything you actually use in Frazer — and adds floor plan tracking. If you rely on BHPH or the forms library, FoxDMS is not the right switch.

Step-by-Step Migration

How to Switch from Frazer to FoxDMS

Follow these steps in order. The entire process takes less than one afternoon. Do not cancel Frazer until Step 8.

1

Export Your Active Inventory from Frazer

In Frazer, go to Reports and export your current active inventory. You need: VIN, year, make, model, stock number, purchase date, and purchase price for each vehicle. Save this as a spreadsheet. You will use it as a reference while adding vehicles to FoxDMS.

You do not need to export sold vehicle history. FoxDMS starts fresh. Historical deal records stay in Frazer for reference.
2

Note Your Floor Plan Settings

Write down your floor plan provider name (NextGear, AFC, Floorplan Xpress, etc.), your annual interest rate, and your credit line amount. You will enter these in FoxDMS settings. This is what enables automatic daily interest calculation on every vehicle.

If you have multiple floor plan lines, use your primary line. FoxDMS applies one floor plan rate to all vehicles by default.
3

Create Your FoxDMS Account

Go to foxdms.com and click Start Free Trial. Enter your name, email address, and create a password. No credit card required. You get full access to every FoxDMS feature for 14 days — there are no feature limitations during the trial period.

4

Configure Your Dealership Settings (2 Minutes)

In FoxDMS, go to Settings. Enter your dealership name, address, and dealer license number. Then enter your floor plan settings: your annual interest rate and credit line. As soon as you save your floor plan settings, FoxDMS is ready to calculate daily interest on every vehicle you add.

Your dealer license number in FoxDMS is the same number that appears on your dealer plate — in Texas this is your GDN (General Distinguishing Number).
5

Add Your Active Inventory

Using the spreadsheet from Step 1, add each current vehicle to FoxDMS. For each vehicle, enter: VIN (FoxDMS auto-fills year/make/model), purchase price, purchase date, and any expenses to date (transport, auction fees, reconditioning). FoxDMS calculates accrued floor plan interest automatically from the purchase date. Most dealers add their active inventory in 30–60 minutes.

Enter the actual purchase date from your auction receipt, not today's date. FoxDMS will calculate all accrued floor plan interest from that date forward automatically.
6

Add Your Dealer Contacts

Add the dealers you buy from and sell to as contacts in FoxDMS. You will use these contacts when creating deals. You do not need to add everyone at once — you can add contacts as deals come up. Start with your most frequent buyers and sellers.

7

Invite Your Team Members

If you have a buyer, accountant, or other team member who needs access, invite them in FoxDMS Settings under Users. Assign each person a role: Admin (full access), Manager, Accountant (financial view, no editing), ReadOnly, or Buyer (add/edit inventory only, no deal or financial data).

8

Run Both Systems Side by Side for 2 Weeks

Do not cancel Frazer yet. Use FoxDMS for your live operations: log new inventory, track expenses, create deals. Check the floor plan interest view daily to see what Frazer was not showing you. Compare the per-vehicle cost numbers against what you had in Frazer. After 2 weeks, you will know whether FoxDMS covers your full workflow.

The goal of running both is to confirm FoxDMS fits your workflow before cutting over. Most dealers discover the floor plan tracking alone was worth the switch.
9

Cancel Frazer When You Are Ready

Frazer is typically month-to-month, so you can cancel at the end of any billing cycle. Before cancelling, export a final backup of your Frazer data — go to Reports and export your full vehicle history and deal history as spreadsheets. Keep these files. After cancelling Frazer, those records still exist in your local export.

Frazer's customer service for cancellation is typically handled by phone or email through their support team. Check your Frazer account for the cancellation contact details.
After the Switch

Your First 30 Days on FoxDMS

Here is what most dealers notice after making the switch from Frazer to FoxDMS.

DAY 1

Floor plan interest is visible on every vehicle

For the first time, you see exactly how much each vehicle is costing you per day in floor plan interest. Most dealers are surprised by what the numbers show on vehicles that have been sitting for 60+ days.

WEEK 2

True cost numbers clarify your pricing

As you add expenses (transport, recon, auction fees), your true all-in cost per vehicle becomes clear. You start pricing based on actual cost, not just what you paid at the auction.

WEEK 4

First full month of accurate profit reporting

At the end of month one, your Reports page shows your actual gross profit per deal — including floor plan interest, all expenses, and sale price. Compare this to what Frazer was showing you.
